Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today that talks with Russia on Syria's Idlib are far from meeting Turkey's demands and warned that a military operation is only a matter of time.
Addressing lawmakers from his ruling Justice and Development Party, Erdogan said Turkey is determined to make Idlib, in northwestern Syria, a safe zone "regardless of the cost."
"Even as talks continue with Russia, which supports the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad," he said, according to Reuters.
Turkish President Ibrahim Kalin's spokesman announced that Turkey will deploy more troops in the Syrian province of Idlib and that it will take revenge for the attack by government forces, while at the same time Ankara continues talks with Moscow about the situation in Syria.
Kalin said Turkey will continue to send troops to Idlib to ensure security for civilians and the entire region.
The Russian and Turkish delegations in Moscow are discussing the situation in Idlib, but no visible progress has been achieved.
