Donald Trump allegedly offered Julian Assange a pardon on the condition that he say that Russia was not involved in the publication of Democratic Party emails, the Guardian reports.
As the British newspaper writes, the so far unconfirmed allegations came from the court where next week it is to be discussed whether the founder of WikiLeaks should be extradited to Washington or not.
The claim was made by Assange's lawyer, Edward Fitzgerald, alluding to alleged evidence that Republican congressman Dana Rohrabacher approached Assange in 2017 offering a pardon agreement "or some other form of amnesty" if he says that Russia had nothing to do with the leaking of Democratic Party documents, reports Klix.ba.
It is about the leaking of documents that cost Hillary Clinton dearly during the 2016 election campaign.
Assange is wanted by US authorities on 18 counts, including conspiracy to hack into computer systems. If found guilty, he could face up to 175 years in prison.
