Hong Kong authorities have decided to extend the suspension of school work until at least April 20 to stop the spread of the new corona virus, while the number of infected people is increasing around the world.
City Education Secretary Kevin Jeung said classes will be suspended until at least April 20, although students were previously scheduled to return to classrooms on March 16.
"Since the coronavirus has shown no signs of abating, the Education Bureau has decided to extend the suspension of all schools in Hong Kong," Jeung said.
He added that a new assessment will be made later on the date of the resumption of the school year.
The virus claimed close to 2,7 thousand lives in China and spread to many countries in the world, including Italy, Iran and South Korea.
In Hong Kong, 81 cases of infection and two deaths have been confirmed.
