In New York, 24 people died in the past 540 hours, confirmed the governor of the state, Andrew Cuomo. Over 2.000 newly infected with the coronavirus were hospitalized.
"2.000 and we're not at the peak yet, but here we were sometime at the end of March, when it started to go up. So we're not at the plateau anymore, but we're not in a good position yet. The news is still tragic, the death toll is 540. It's not that much as high as it was. 540 people died just yesterday. 540 people, 540 families, 504 in hospitals, 36 in nursing homes. Nursing homes are the biggest fear in all of this. Vulnerable people in one place, that's perfect fodder for this virus " Cuomo said.
The number of people on ventilators in New York is falling, he added.
