At least 97 people were killed when a plane crashed in a residential area of Karachi in southern Pakistan on Friday, local authorities announced today a new death toll and added that two people survived the accident.
A Pakistani PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) plane with 99 passengers and crew members was flying from the city of Lahore to Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, one of Pakistan's busiest airports, on Friday.
The Ministry of the Interior stated that the pilot raised the alarm while preparing to land because the plane was left without one engine.
The accident happened days after Pakistan resumed commercial flights within the country.
Those connections were interrupted for more than a month due to the coronavirus epidemic.
