The Center for Emergency Operations announced that rescuers found the bodies of two victims of the earthquake in the "Beauty Inn" hotel, and that they are believed to be members of a Chinese family.

The epicenter was 21 kilometers northeast of the port of Hualien, on the east coast of Taiwan at a depth of 9,4 kilometers.
