South Korea reported today 59 new cases of infection with Kovid-19, while the number of infected continues to grow steadily in the area of the capital, where half of the country's 51 million inhabitants live.
With the data published today by the South Korean Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the total number of infected in the country has reached 12.257, and 280 have died.
As stated by the Center, out of the total number of newly infected people, 39 are in Seoul and the surrounding areas, where the authorities are trying to stop the transmission of the infection, while economic activity has increased and attitudes regarding physical distancing have relaxed.
Eight new cases were linked to arrivals from abroad. Officials are concerned that a resurgence of the virus in China could lead to more imported cases.
South Korea has linked at least 1.379 cases to international arrivals and requires a two-week quarantine for travelers arriving from abroad.
