The head of American diplomacy, Rex Tillerson, warned Russia of "consequences" if that country interferes in the upcoming elections in the USA.
Tillerson, who is on a tour of Latin American countries, told Fox News that there are "many ways for the Russians to interfere in the election" and added that there are "various tools that they can use."
"I think it's important that we continue to say to Russia: 'Listen, if you think we don't see what you're doing, you're wrong, we see it and you should stop. If you don't stop, then you'll suffer the consequences,'" Tillerson said during a visit to Colombia.
Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Mike Pompeo recently stated that he expects Russia to try to interfere in the US elections in November this year, as it did in the 2016 presidential election, according to US intelligence services.
Russia has denied on several occasions that it interfered in the election in which Donald Trump won, while the American president himself said that he had nothing to do with Russia during the election campaign.
In November, elections will be held in the USA for both houses of Congress - the House of Representatives and the Senate.
