In unusual violence in the Mexican city of Monterrey, 15 people were killed, most of them victims of armed attacks in bars, and nine people were wounded, the AP agency reported today.
The authorities of the Mexican state of New Leon announced that the attacks took place in six nightclubs in the municipalities of Monterrey, Guadalupe and Juarez during the night between Saturday and Sunday.
Mexican officials fear that the death toll could be higher because some people were seriously wounded.
It is not yet known whether these incidents are related.
Monterey hasn't seen a similar "bloody" night in years, AP said, adding that in 2011, 20 people were shot dead in a downtown bar.
