UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said he was "deeply concerned" about the cancellation of the summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Today at the University of Geneva, Guterres appealed to both sides to continue working to find a path to "peaceful and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula." In Geneva, he laid out his plan for disarmament, warning that nuclear agreements between states are under threat like never before. Trump today canceled the summit with Kim Jong Un planned for June 12 in Singapore, citing "terrible anger and open hostility" in North Korea's statement last night. In that statement, the North Korean government called US Vice President Mike Pence a "political fool" and stated that it is equally ready for nuclear confrontation as well as negotiations.
