The director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Robert Redfield, announced today that he has signed the Immunization Advisory Committee's recommendation for the use of Pfizer's vaccine against the coronavirus.
Redfield said in a statement that he signed the recommendation last night, reports Reuters.
The advisory board on Saturday unanimously recommended the use of the Pfizer and Biontec vaccine as adequate for vaccinating Americans 16 and older.
The Food and Drug Administration had previously granted approval for emergency use of the vaccine on Friday.
Vaccination in the United States should begin tomorrow, as vaccines are being delivered to hospitals.
