The pharmaceutical company Pfizer announced that it has started testing the third dose of the vaccine against covid-19 as part of its strategy to protect against mutated strains of the coronavirus.
Health authorities have stated that the first generation of Covid-19 vaccines still protects against variants that have emerged in different parts of the world.
Manufacturers, as reported by Reuters, are beginning to prepare in case strains of the virus appear that are more resistant to vaccines.
Pfizer announced that 144 volunteers will participate in the trial of the third dose, to determine whether an additional dose given six to 12 months after the first two will strengthen the immune system enough to fight off the mutated virus.
