Great Britain will temporarily send around 600 soldiers to Afghanistan to help British citizens leave the country, which is under the Taliban offensive, the British government announced today.
"I have approved the deployment of additional military personnel to support the diplomatic presence in Kabul, help British nationals leave the country and support the relocation of former Afghan personnel who risked their lives serving with us," British Defense Secretary Ben Wallis said in a statement.
The US has also announced that it is sending additional troops to secure the Kabul airport for the evacuation of its diplomatic staff, whose numbers they intend to reduce.
They are also speeding up the evacuation of Afghans who have worked for the US military.
