Heads of state participating in the session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, who are not vaccinated, will have to be satisfied with a slice of pizza on the street instead of dinner in one of the New York restaurants.
This is what happened to Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who could not enter any restaurant in New York because he was not vaccinated.
Bolsonaro, a right-wing populist, has doubts about vaccines, and before his trip to New York he said that his immunity is strong enough to defend against the coronavirus.
Ministers in his government published a photo of Bolsonaro eating a slice of pizza on the street in New York with his associates.
His supporters praised Bolsonaro's "simplicity".
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio appealed to world leaders to get vaccinated before coming to New York for the UN General Assembly.
"If you're not going to get vaccinated, don't even come," said the mayor.
The chairman of the UN General Assembly, Adbula Shahid, said that a special system applies to presidents, prime ministers and diplomats from 193 countries, that is, they are not required to show proof of immunization.
Certain representatives will not come to New York, but will send a video address.
Bolsonaro will open the session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.
