The micron strain of coronavirus has been registered in 89 countries in the world and is spreading rapidly even in areas where a large part of the population is immunized, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced today.
The number of people infected with omicron strain doubles every three days in countries where the transmission of the virus takes place in the community, and not only from people who came from abroad, according to the announcement.
It is added that it is more contagious than the delta strain and that it is expected to be the most dominant strain in the coming period.
It is still unknown whether currently developed vaccines protect against this variant.
The WHO also states that the severity of the clinical picture caused by the omicron strain is still unknown.
