At least six people are missing, and dozens of households have been evacuated in South Korea due to the collapse of part of a multi-story building under construction, the authorities announced today.
Rescuers have temporarily suspended the search for the missing in the city of Gwangju, fearing another building collapse.
The search could resume tomorrow, depending on the results of the security inspection.
It is believed that all the missing were working at the construction site, where 394 people were employed.
Rescuers pulled three workers from the rubble, including two who were trapped in a shipping container on which part of the 39-story building collapsed.
In today's collapse of part of the building, the cause of which is being investigated, at least 10 parked vehicles were destroyed, and emergency services evacuated 109 families and about 90 shops in nearby buildings.
