An earthquake with a magnitude of 6,1 on the Richter scale hit Sichuan province in southwest China today, the Chinese Seismological Center announced.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Lushan district, near the town of Jaan, at a depth of 17 kilometers, reports Reuters.
So far, there are no reports of material damage or casualties.
In 2013, the city of Jaan was hit by a powerful earthquake that killed more than 100 people and injured thousands more.
