Three people were killed in a shooting at a state park in the eastern US state of Iowa on Friday morning, reports Voice of America.
The suspected attacker is also dead, police said.
Police responded to calls about a shooting at a camping area in Makoketa Park at 30:XNUMX a.m., said Mike Krepfl, a special agent with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Police found three people at the scene, but it has not been specified how they died, nor has their identity been released.
Krepfl said officers who searched the area later found the body of a Nebraska man who had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities identified him as 23-year-old Anthony Sherwin.
The camp was evacuated after the shooting.
The children's summer camp Shalom, which is located at that location, announced on Facebook that parents were informed about the evacuation and that a point was opened where they can pick up their children.
Camp Shalom also pointed out that everyone in the camp has been found and is safe.
The police stated that the park remains closed but that there is no longer a threat to the public.
