Six people died in a helicopter crash in the Indian Himalayas

Six people, including two crew members, died in a helicopter crash in the Indian Himalayas, local police said.

The cause of the crash of the aircraft, which was transporting Hindu pilgrims from the Kadarnath temple, is not yet known, reports Reuters.

Officials say the helicopter, which was flying in foggy weather, belongs to a private company.

The pilgrims were visiting the Kedarnath temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, in the Rudrapraiag district of Uttarakhand state.

The temple is located at an altitude of 1.311 meters and is open to visitors from April to November.

It is still too early to determine the cause of the accident, but bad weather could be a factor, reports Reuters.
