The United States of America is concerned about Iran's threats to Saudi Arabia and will not hesitate to respond if necessary, the White House said, according to Reuters.
"We are concerned about the threat and remain in constant contact through military and intelligence channels with the Saudis," the National Security Council said. They emphasize, "we will not hesitate to act in defense of our interests and partners in the region".
The announcement came after the Wall Street Journal reported that Saudi Arabia had shared intelligence with the US, warning of an imminent Iranian attack on targets in the kingdom.
The US said Iran had supplied Russia with drones for use in its war against Ukraine, prompting Washington to sideline efforts to revive the Iran nuclear deal. We remind you that this agreement was abandoned in 2018 by then President Donald Trump.
The current president of the USA, Joseph Biden, has been holding talks with Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, after the OPEC+ organization headed by Saudi Arabia decided to reduce oil production. The move sparked fears of a spike in gasoline prices in the United States.
