Leftist Luis Inácio Lula da Silva was sworn in as president of Brazil today in a ceremony in parliament.
Da Silva, or simply Lula as Brazilians call him, succeeded far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, who left the country two days before the end of his term, boycotting the inauguration.
Lula defeated Bolsonaro (77) in the elections held in October.
He had two presidential mandates (2003-2010).
