China has stated that American balloons have violated its airspace a dozen times since the beginning of 2022, publishing this information at a time of tensions between Beijing and Washington after a Chinese balloon flew over US territory.
In early February, the US military shot down a Chinese balloon that the Pentagon said was a spy, intended to collect sensitive data. China condemned the incident, saying it was a civilian aircraft that veered off course.
Since that incident, several flying objects have been spotted over Canada and the US, before being shot down. For now, it is not known what these flying objects are and where they come from.
When asked about this, the spokesperson of Chinese diplomacy stated that American balloons flew over its airspace. "Since last year alone, American balloons have flown over China more than ten times without any authorization," Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told reporters.
He did not elaborate on the incidents, urging reporters to contact the "American side."
He emphasized that Beijing handled these incursions in a "responsible and professional manner."
