At least 30 people were killed in central Myanmar, after the country's army attacked an event organized by opponents of the military government, the media reported.
Citing residents of the Sagaing area, BBC Burma, Radio Free Asia (RFA) and the Irrawaddy news portal reported that up to 50 people, including civilians, were killed in the attack.
As reported by Reuters, they could not confirm these reports, while a spokesman for the ruling army did not return a phone call for comment.
A member of the People's Defense Forces (PDF), an armed group opposed to the junta, told Reuters that warplanes fired at the opening ceremony of their local office.
"For now, the exact number of victims is still unknown. We cannot retrieve the bodies yet," said a PDF member, who asked to remain anonymous.
Myanmar's military, which overthrew an elected government in 2021, has drawn international condemnation for its deadly attacks on pro-democracy opponents and civilians.
