Uganda's Minister of Labor, Charles Engola, was killed this morning by his bodyguard, local media reported.
Engola is a retired army colonel.
The attacker, whose identity has not been released, shot himself after the murder, state television UBC reported.
The incident happened at Engola's house in the suburbs of Kampala, and the police are at the scene of the crime.
The motive is unknown, but the media speculates that it is a personal conflict over the bodyguard's salary.
"Eyewitnesses claim that the bodyguard shouted that he had not been paid for a long time, even though he worked for the minister," the NilePost portal reported.
