Trump's son admitted: I met with a Russian lawyer because of Hillary

The eldest son of US President Donald Trump Jr. said that he accepted a meeting with a Russian lawyer in June of last year.

He pointed out that he did it because he was interested in whether she had compromising information about his father's opponent at the time, Hillary Clinton.

Trump Jr. testified behind closed doors before the Judiciary Committee of the US Senate, where he said that he wanted to get information from the Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya about Hillary Clinton's "fitness" to serve as US president, the New York Times reports.

The "New York Times" obtained a copy of the testimony of Trump Jr., who stated today that he did not learn any significant information at that meeting, and that he had nothing to do with the Russian government's efforts to influence last year's presidential election in the United States.

That meeting in the "Trump Tower" in June 2016, in addition to the eldest son of the US President Donald Trump and Veselnitska, was also attended by the son-in-law of the US President and adviser in the White House Jared Kushner, the head of the Trump presidential campaign Paul Manafort, the representative of the Russian real estate dealer Aras Agalarov and others.

Committees of the US Congress are investigating Russian involvement in the 2016 US presidential election and the possible connection of Trump associates with the Russians.
