The US has become more attentive to the Chinese "threat" since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which did not distract from the growing rivalry with Beijing, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said today.
"Our support for Ukraine has not weakened our capacity to respond to a potential threat coming from China or elsewhere, it has strengthened it," Blinken said in a speech in Helsinki.
Referring to Ukraine, he assessed that calls for negotiations and the idea of a truce based on the current positions on the front would only "consolidate" the control of Russian President Vladimir Putin and enable him to attack again.
China favors negotiations and opposes sending additional weapons to Ukraine.
