Rebels in eastern Congo have killed at least 18 people in several villages, the Convention on Human Rights said.
Rebels from the Federal Democratic Forces attacked people in the villages of Mutujeji, Bekembele and Bulesi in Irumu province last weekend and looted houses, Human Rights Convention coordinator Christophe Munyanderu said today.
Tensions and violence have simmered for decades in eastern Congo, where some 120 armed groups fight over land, resources and power.
Allied Democratic Forces, believed to be allied with the Islamic State group, have been attacking more and more recently.
