At least nine people suffered gunshot wounds in a mass shooting in the American city of Cleveland early in the morning, police said, according to CNN.
"No deaths have been reported," said Jennifer Cacia, spokeswoman for the Cleveland Police Department.
"Preliminary information shows that the suspect opened fire on a group of people and then fled the scene," Ćacia said in a statement.
CNN reports that officers were already in the area working a weekly detail when they responded to a report of multiple people shot around 2:30 a.m., according to the statement.
The police "arrived quickly" and provided medical assistance at the scene.
"Investigators are in the process of reviewing evidence and video footage, as well as interviewing the victims at MetroHealth Medical Center," Ćacia said in a statement, adding that additional information was not immediately available.
CNN says the shooting is just the latest example of America's struggle with gun violence, as mass shootings continue largely unabated.
