One person was killed and eight were injured in a shooting at a Shia shrine in southern Iran today, state media reported, revising the previous death toll of four.
"One person was killed and eight were injured in the attack," the official Irna news agency reported, citing Fars Deputy Governor Esmail Gezel Sofala.
The injured were "transported to medical centers for treatment", Irna reported.
According to a first estimate, official media said there were four deaths in the attack, which was not immediately confirmed and occurred around 19:00 (15:30 GMT), said the governor of Fars province, Mohamed Hadi Imanieh.
The Tasnim news agency reported that two armed attackers first tried to enter the temple and then opened fire on the visitors.
One of the attackers was arrested, while the other escaped. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
