US President Joseph Biden says that Russia will win if the US does not provide aid to Ukraine. He asks - what will happen to the Balkan countries after that?
"If we leave and Russia withstands their attack and defeats Ukraine, what do you think will happen in the Balkan countries? What do you think will happen from Poland to Hungary?" Biden asked.
Top Biden aides openly told lawmakers in a private meeting Wednesday that if Congress doesn't soon approve additional military aid to Ukraine, Russia could win the war in weeks or months at best, NBC News reports.
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Director of National Intelligence Avril Hayes then stated that it was no coincidence that Vladimir Putin launched his biggest airstrike since the start of the invasion of Ukraine after Congress did not approve additional aid last month, reports N1.
Sullivan emphasized that Ukraine's position will become increasingly difficult during the year.
