Cyclone in the north of Australia: 700 people remained blocked from the rest of the country

About 700 people remained stranded in the north of Australia after the passage of a tropical cyclone that severed connections with the rest of the country.

The small community of Borulula in the Northern Territory was hit by a category 3 cyclone on Monday afternoon.

Cyclone Megan brought heavy rainfall and wind that reached 200 kilometers per hour, meteorologists said.

The Australian army tried to evacuate the residents, but due to weather conditions, military aircraft could not land in the threatened area.

Officials said a new rescue operation was planned for today.
