The military adviser of the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned today that no Israeli embassy is safe, after the death of seven Iranian soldiers in an attack attributed to Israel on the Iranian diplomatic building in Damascus.
"No Israeli embassy is safe anymore," said Revolutionary Guard General Yahya Rahim Safavi, Isna news agency reported.
Tehran has vowed to retaliate against an airstrike on the consular annex of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, where seven members of the Revolutionary Guards, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic, were killed. Among the victims were two senior officers.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a total of 16 people were killed in that attack.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on Wednesday that Israel would receive a "slap in the face" for the attack.
Iranian officials have not given any indication of when or where they will respond to the Israeli attack.
