US President Donald Trump personally dictated a false statement in which his son said that a meeting with a Russian lawyer focused on the adoption of Russian children.
This is claimed by the "Washington Post", which recalls that Donald Trump Jr. said that the meeting held in the "Trump Tower" primarily discussed the program to adopt Russian children and insisted that the issue was not related to the election campaign and alleged Russian interference .
According to this paper, the American president dictated his son's statement while he was on the plane on his way to Washington from the G20 summit in Germany.
Donald Trump Jr. released multiple emails later in July detailing that he attended the meeting after being promised "very high-level sensitive information" regarding Russia and the Russian government's support for Donald Trump.
Citing people familiar with the course of the meeting, the "Washington Post" stated that the US president's legal team planned to present the meeting as a possible set-up by the Democrats for Donald Trump Jr. and Donald Trump himself.
The "New York Times" previously reported that Russian lawyer Natalya Veselnytsia, who allegedly has "Kremlin connections", met with the eldest son of the US president, Donald Trapp Jr., in 2016 due to claims that she had compromising information about Hillary Clinton.
Veseljnicka, however, stated that she never worked for the Russian government and denied information that she had any compromising information about Clinton.
Trump Jr. described the meeting as "empty" and pointed out that he did not tell his father about it. According to him, during the meeting with Veseljnicki, "it soon turned out that she did not have important information".
