The Islamic State militant group has claimed responsibility for an attack by armed men on tourists in the central Afghan province of Bamiyan.
In the attack on May 17, three Spanish tourists were killed and at least one was injured, according to the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Abdul Matin Kane, a spokesman for the Taliban-led government's interior ministry, said four people had been arrested in connection with the attack.
In addition to foreign tourists, one Afghan citizen was killed, and four foreigners and three Afghans were injured, according to Kane.
Bamiyan is home to a UNESCO World Heritage site that houses the remains of two giant Buddha statues blown up by the Taliban during their previous rule in 2001.
