Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, Admiral Scott Swift, said today that he would launch a nuclear attack on China as early as next week if US President Donald Trump ordered it.
At the same time, Swift, in an address at a security conference at the Australian National University after a joint military exercise between the US and Australia, warned that the army must never disobey its commander, reports AP.
As he pointed out, if the army comes under civilian control, "then it is a really significant problem".
When asked by the audience if he would launch a nuclear attack on China next Sunday if Trump ordered it, Swift said: "The answer would be - yes."
