The United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, today condemned the violence in the West Bank and called for it to end, saying that it is incomprehensible that more than 7 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied territory since October 500 last year.
"As if the tragic events in Israel and then in Gaza in the past eight months were not enough, people in the West Bank are also exposed to unprecedented bloodshed day after day," Turk said, adding that "it is incomprehensible that so many lives have been taken in such a malicious way," reported France Press.
Since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas in southern Israel that triggered the Gaza war, Israeli soldiers have arrested about 4.000 Palestinians across the West Bank, including more than 1.700 with ties to Hamas.
According to the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health, more than 510 Palestinians from the West Bank were killed during that time.
According to the military's estimates, the vast majority were killed during clashes in raids and arrests, Israeli media reported.
