Yesterday, one person opened fire in a supermarket in the American state of Arkansas, killing three people and wounding ten others, including two police officers, the Arkansas State Police reported, according to Reuters.
The suspect was also wounded in the shootout with police, Arkansas State Police Director Mike Hagar told reporters.
The shooting happened at the "Mad Butcher" store in Fordyce, a town of about 3.200 people, located 112 km south of Little Rock, the capital of Arkansas.
"Unfortunately, we can confirm that 11 innocent civilians were shot and three died. Two police officers were injured in the exchange of fire. The suspect was also shot and taken into custody," Hagar said.
He did not explain the circumstances of the shooting and no questions were asked.
He said the wounded officers and the suspect were expected to survive.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced on the X social network that she had been informed of the incident.
"I am grateful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives. My prayers are with the victims and all those affected by this horrific incident," she said.
