Rescue teams pulled the body of one person from a lake in Fort Worth, Texas, where the CrossFit Games are being held this morning, local station WFAA, an ABC television partner, reports.
Emergency services responded to a call that someone had drowned around 8 a.m. local time near Marin Creek Lake.
The Crossfit Games issued an official statement confirming that an accident occurred during the swimming competition, expressing regret for the death of one of the competitors and announcing that they will cooperate with the authorities in the investigation.
They did not name the victim, and the competition was canceled for today.
Authorities also did not release the name of the victim, and local police representatives said they would not release the name until the identity was confirmed and the family was notified.
The media reports that the victim is a Serbian crossfit competitor, Lazar Đukić.
Voice of America has not yet received confirmation from the Serbian embassy in the US about this.

The event was broadcast live on Facebook, YouTube and the sports channel ESPN, where the broadcast was abruptly interrupted.
Footage of a part of the swimming competition where a competitor is allegedly seen disappearing under water has been published on social networks.
