An earthquake measuring 6,8 on the Richter scale hit northern and northeastern Japan today.
As Anatolia reports, the Japanese Meteorological Agency has not issued a tsunami warning.
The earthquake's epicenter was about 490 kilometers below the Earth's surface, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
So far, no damage has been reported in the affected area, Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido.
Japan is already on a strong earthquake alert after a 7,1-magnitude earthquake hit the country's southwest on Thursday.
