North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said today that he wants to continuously develop his country's nuclear arsenal, stressing that North Korea is a "responsible nuclear power", North Korean official media reported.
Because of the "varied threats" from the United States and its allies, North Korea's "nuclear force" and its deployment capabilities must be "perfected," the North Korean president said.
Pyongyang will "redouble" its efforts to make its armed forces, including nuclear forces, "fully combat-ready," Kim said during the commemoration of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
However, as Kim Jong Un added, North Korea is a "responsible nuclear power".
"Our nuclear weapons, which are used to defend us, are not a threat to anyone," the North Korean leader said.
