A man attacked several people with a knife today at a metro station in Tehran, the capital of Iran, after which the police shot him dead, Iranian media reported.
The IRNA agency reported that four people were injured in the subway attack, while, according to the Mehr agency, at least 15 were injured.
The incident took place at the metro station in the Rej neighborhood, in the suburbs of Tehran, after a discussion between the attacker and an imam.
According to the agencies, the man attacked the imam with a knife, after which the passengers intervened, and the police had to open fire on the attacker.
Members of the security forces at the station asked the attacker to hand over his weapon, which he refused, and opened fire, hitting him in the leg, CNN reported, citing IRNU.
As stated, the attacker died as a result of his wounds on the way to the hospital.
The police said that the attack "does not have a terrorist background", writes the IRNA agency.
