Two Israelis have been arrested on charges that they carried out several acts of sabotage in favor of Iran and participated in planning the assassination of a high-ranking official, the police and the Shin Bet security service announced today.
The announcement identified 30-year-old citizen of Israel Vladislav Viktorson from Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv, who was recruited by the Iranian "Mari Hosi".
Victorson enlisted his 18-year-old partner, Anna Bernstein, and the two of them carried out more sabotage and provocations.
Among other things, they spray-painted provocative graffiti and put up posters, set fire to cars near Jarkon Park in Tel Aviv, set fires in local forests on the instructions of Hosi, who issued them in Hebrew.
The two defendants filmed the acts they committed and for which they were paid $5.000.
They were then asked to kill a prominent Israeli by throwing a hand grenade into his house, the statement said, adding that they agreed and tried to buy weapons.
However, it was not specified who was their target, reports Israeli media.
In recent months, the Shin Bet has released a statement about a series of alleged conspiracies by which Iran tried on social media to induce Israelis to carry out missions for Tehran.
In January, a plan to allegedly recruit Israelis to gather intelligence on high-ranking figures was revealed.
