At least 15 people were killed today in an Israeli attack on a residential building south of Beirut, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced.
"In an attack by the Israeli enemy in Barja, according to the initial report, 15 people were killed," the ministry said, adding that cleaning and rescue operations are underway at this coastal site, which is located about 20 kilometers from the capital of Lebanon.
Today, it is the second Israeli attack on this region, which is outside the stronghold of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah movement, against which Israel entered the war on September 23.

At least seven people were killed today in an Israeli military operation and airstrikes in the West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced.
Five people were killed in two separate Israeli attacks in the city of Kabati and nearby, and two more people were killed in the Tamun area, according to the statement.
The Israeli army announced that a fighter jet targeted a group of armed men and that its forces arrested 60 terrorists, according to Israeli media.
Islamic Jihad's military wing, the Al-Quds Brigades, claims its members clashed with Israeli forces in the Kabatieh and Tamun areas.
Israeli forces carry out almost daily operations in the West Bank, following last year's attack by Hamas on southern Israeli territory, which sparked the war.
The Health Ministry says at least 767 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since then, the Associated Press reports. Most of the extremists were killed in clashes with Israeli forces, but many civilians were also killed.
Israel claims that the aim of these actions is to destroy Hamas in the West Bank and prevent attacks on Israel.
The West Bank was occupied by Israel in the 1967 war, and the Palestinians want it to be the main part of their future state.

In a daily report, Gaza's health ministry said at least 43.391 people had died since the start of the war.
The death toll includes 17 deaths in the previous 24 hours, the ministry said, adding that approximately 102.347 people were wounded in the Gaza Strip.
More than 100 patients, including children suffering from trauma injuries and chronic illnesses, will be evacuated from Gaza on Wednesday, Reuters reported, citing a World Health Organization (WHO) official.
The WHO representative for the occupied Palestinian territory, Rick Pepperkorn, said 12.000 people were waiting to be transferred.
