Democratic candidate for president of the United States and current vice president Kamala Harris called Republican candidate Donald Trump to congratulate him on his victory in the presidential elections in the United States, two of her associates said, according to Reuters.
Harris is scheduled to give a public speech later today, also "discussing the importance of a peaceful transition of power and being the president of all Americans," a senior Harris aide said.
Trump crossed the threshold of 270 electoral votes, needed for victory, this morning CET.
Voting results are still pending from three states - Arizona, Nevada and Alaska - and Trump currently leads in each of them.
