The President of the United States of America (USA) Joseph Biden today called Donald Trump to congratulate him on his victory in the presidential elections and invited him to meet at the White House, Reuters reports.

That agency also states that Biden will address the nation on Thursday.
The White House said in a statement after Trump defeated US Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the US presidential race that Biden was also committed to "ensuring a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of working to bring the country together."
Biden also spoke with Harris, it added.
Reuters previously reported that Harris also called Trump to congratulate him on his victory in the US presidential election.
