Fires continue to burn in the northeastern United States (USA) where two men are accused of starting some of the wildfires.

In New York, a fire broke out in a park in the northern part of Manhattan, and smoke is spreading across the city.

The number of fires in the last two weeks in New York was a record due to the severe drought, and Mayor Eric Adams called on residents to take shorter showers, repair faucets and save water in every way.

Drought in the US Northeast is a growing problem for water supply.

September and October were the driest on record in New Jersey. Governor Phil Murphy declared the drought a disaster and urged residents to conserve water, but did not announce any restrictions.

The dry weather has brought a series of wildfires to a part of the US that rarely experiences them. Fire crews continued efforts to contain the 5.000-acre wildfire on the New Jersey-New York border.

In California, they are battling a large fire in Ventura County, northwest of Los Angeles, on Sunday. 83 square kilometers of vegetation and hundreds of houses burned, and thousands of residents fled.
