The President of the United States of America (USA) Joseph Biden today called on the G20 countries, a group of the world's richest economies, to support the sovereignty of Ukraine.
A day earlier, the US authorized Kiev to use American long-range missiles for attacks deep inside Russia.
"The United States strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. In my opinion, everyone at this table should do so," Biden said at the first plenary session of the Group of 20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.
Biden also called on the G20 countries to "increase pressure on Hamas" to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in the war with Israel and assured that he would "continue to work towards an agreement" before leaving office.
Biden's successor in the White House, Republican Donald Trump, takes office on January 20.
"I urge everyone here to step up the pressure on Hamas, which is rejecting that agreement," Biden said at the G20 summit.
Russia is represented at the summit in Rio by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov.
