The Israeli army announced this evening that it carried out a drone strike in southern Lebanon against a rocket launcher spotted in Majdal Zun. As stated, the thrower "represented a threat to the State of Israel and a violation of the understanding between Israel and Lebanon", according to Israeli media. The soldiers also destroyed Hezbollah weapons found today in Kiam, As-Savanah and Ajtarun, the army added. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are deployed in southern Lebanon and are acting against any threat that endangers the state of Israel, a military statement said. A ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese extremist Hezbollah took effect on November 27, ending more than two months of open warfare. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken assessed today that the ceasefire is holding up well, despite recent incidents.
Based on the agreement reached thanks to the mediation of the US and France, the withdrawal of the Israeli army across the border from southern Lebanon and the Hezbollah forces north of the Litani River within 60 days is foreseen. Cross-border conflicts began on October 8 last year, a day after the start of the war between Palestinian Hamas and Israel in Gaza, and in September they turned into an open war.
