The Weather Service of the United States of America (USA) has canceled the tsunami warning for the American West Coast issued after today's strong earthquake of magnitude 7,0.
The earthquake occurred around 18.44:19 GMT (44:XNUMX Central European Time) at a shallow depth of ten kilometers in the subsea Pacific Ocean, not far from the coast of northern California.
The tsunami warning was in effect for much of the Pacific coast north of San Francisco, and included part of the Oregon coast. The warning covered about 800 kilometers of coastline with 5,3 million residents advised to stay away from the coast.
The earthquake was felt as far south as San Francisco, where it lasted a few seconds, and there were several subsequent smaller earthquakes.
So far, there are no reports of major damage or injuries.
