In an attack on a military post in northwestern Pakistan, six members of the Pakistani security forces were killed and seven were wounded, the police announced today.
A border guard checkpoint in Bagam, 200 kilometers south of the city of Peshawar, was attacked.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province's Kuram district, where at least 130 people have been killed in fierce sectarian fighting in recent weeks despite a ceasefire between Sunni and Shia communities.
Also today, an official said 20 Pakistani Taliban fighters have been killed in Tank district in the same province since Friday, involved in attacks on security forces, extortion and killing of civilians.
